AMCOL, formerly known as the American Charcoal Company, began as a family operated foundry supply house in 1902. In the late 1940’s, we began to focus our efforts in lubricants, release agents, quenches, and other ancillary chemicals for use in die casting of zinc and aluminum.
Throughout the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s, AMCOL began a focus on other emerging metalworking industries, including welded steel tube manufacturing and cold roll forming.
In the 1990’s AMCOL pioneered the creation of the Minimum Quantity Lubrication Systems. Early technologies were crude and expensive. Today, the applicators are designed for the industrial environment and the lubricants are tailored to a variety of specialized applications, which are particularly well suited to this technology.
The concept of Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) would be a springboard to carry AMCOL to the present day holistic approach for the use and application of metalworking fluids. In this way, MQL is the matching of high performance lubricants (generally green chemistry) dispensed with extremely accurate and repeatable spray equipment. Today, AMCOL offers a variety of different MQL fluids that are marketed under the CANMIST trade name.
This same concept of matching chemicals and dispensing systems is now integral to our product offering. Today, we also offer metalworking coolants and related filtrations systems, release agents with air atomized spray, electrostatic powder systems, and in-line tube coating systems.
AMCOL is now officially a fifth generation family business, located in Hazel Park, Michigan, but our presence is worldwide. We look forward to hearing from you on how we can help to improve your metalworking facility.
Exlterra recognizes how the growth of our civilization has put a great pressure on our environment causing an imbalance. Many of the systems used today that address environmental issues operate in ways that are unsustainable or result in unnecessary costs.
At Exlterra we invent better ways to combat major challenges affecting our environment and civilization. Our disruptive technologies generate significant economic, environmental, and social value.
Our first invention, patented since 2010, is called EGRP®. Thanks to its energy-passive, soil moisture management design, EGRP revolutionizes the way to address many water issues. In 2017, Exlterra will release an innovative and versatile drilling machine for EGRP installations and other drilling applications.
Today, Exlterra is working on improving its existing technology while continuing to pursue new projects and ideas. It is in the DNA of Exlterra to invent and market powerful technologies.
We realize that the concept of a circular economy presents a unique opportunity to create greater value through our world’s finite resources, and we use innovation, technology, and experience to create reliable, long-lasting solutions to industry old problems.
